Our chair of the Inspectors Board Rob Thorpe, accompanied our JBB Vice Chair, Mick Lynch to the funeral of PC1563 Gareth Browning from Thames Valley Police this week.
Gareth was hit by a stolen car at 50mph whilst on duty in 2014, and never recovered from his injuries, dying recently in hospital. He was a truly exceptional officer and leaves behind a wife and two wonderful young twin boys.
It was an honour to attend his service and very emotional to see the esteem that his colleagues hold him in, and to see these two very young and very brave boys, following their father into church. Gareth's act of selfless courage is typical of police officers all over England & Wales. His legacy will be these two very brave young boys, who will unfortunately grow up without him now.
The Police Dependants’ Trust has been the lifeline to thousands of injured officers and their families for over fifty years. Thanks to the generosity of strangers, they get the targeted support and financial assistance they need to make sense of their situation, rebuild their lives, and get back their personal dignity and independence.
Please consider this wonderful charity and visit their website home page today at this link https://www.pdtrust.org/
